5 Actions That Help Vacation Rental Owners Start 2022 Off Right

vacation at my place start 2022 off right

Start 2022 off right by making both small and large improvements to your vacation rental property.

Vacation rental owners should always be working on ways to draw in potential renters. Do you want to start 2022 off right by both preparing for the year and improving your chance of attracting more guests? Make these actions part of your strategy for a successful start to your year.

Review Your Listing

Look at your listing from a potential guest’s perspective, and make sure that it contains all updated and necessary information. This is also the time to update your listing photos and ensure that all rates and amenities are correct. Finally, add details that help your guests determine whether your rental is the best place for their vacation.

Freshen Up Your Rental

Guests love rentals that are fresh, clean, and look their best. As you move into the new year, take time to update anything that needs attention in your rental. Add some paint, or place new pillows and throw rugs. Make sure that every light bulb has been recently changed, especially in hard-to-reach fixtures that are easily overlooked. Changing a few minor details can completely change the look and feel of your vacation rental.

Check for Minor Repairs

Have you been putting off fixing a leaky faucet this year? Do you have doors that don’t shut all the way or tend to stick? Is there a light switch that doesn’t work? To start 2022 off right, take care of those minor repairs. While you’re at it, make sure you put any significant repairs on the schedule as soon as possible.

Update The House Rules

Look at your current house rules and consider how they have been working for you. Are there rules you need to update or strategies you need to consider changing this year? Do you want to have guests start a load of laundry before they leave? Should guests avoid smoking? Have you decided to change your pet policy? The start of 2022 is a great time to update house rules and make sure they still reflect your needs and those of your guests.

Redo Your Welcome Book

The past year has been a year of disruption for many local businesses. Some restaurants and local stores may not have survived the effects of the pandemic, while others may have moved into your neighborhood. You may have new local favorites or discover that a place you frequented in the past is no longer there.

With that in mind, redo your welcome book to reflect any changes in the area. Consider updating your welcome basket to include items from new local businesses, or shift your support to area businesses that are struggling.

Are you ready to start 2022 off right for your vacation rental? There are plenty of actions you can take to attract more guests to your property and provide a better experience for them. Add these items to your checklist as you move into the new year and start looking for guests again.
