8 Must-Have Items for the Perfect Vacation Rental Description

vacation at my place vacation rental description

Create a fantastic vacation rental description by including these items.

Fall is here, and among other things, this is the perfect time to update your vacation rental description. Whether you’re hoping to bring in some fall-traveling guests or you want to prepare your rental for the next summer vacation season, make sure you include these details in your vacation rental descriptions.

Your Property Location

Make sure guests know exactly where your property is and how close it is to popular local activities. Is your property ocean block? Oceanfront? Bayside? Do you have any water views? If you’re not on the beach, how close is it to your rental? Providing a clear breakdown of this information in your vacation rental description will ensure guests know what to expect from your property.

The Type of Property

Photos are great, but guests may not focus on the outside photos if you include them! Make sure you let your guests know if your property is a single-family home, a townhome, or a condo so that they can best determine whether it is a good fit for their family vacation.

Any Building or Community Amenities

Many vacation rental guests are interested in the amenities that come with the community and the property itself. Does your community offer a pool? A hot tub? Does it offer tennis, golfing, or other community activities? Every available amenity should be clearly listed in your vacation rental description.

Any Recent Property Renovations

What did you do to update the property and make it a more comfortable, exciting, or otherwise delightful experience for your guests? Consider offering before and after photos to show exactly how much the property has been improved.

The Number of Beds and Bedrooms

Make sure to break down how many beds there are and what kind they are. A group of couples vacationing together might not want to include a room with two twin beds in their vacation planning, while a family with kids may need to know that their children won’t have to share beds. Include the location of the beds, too: are there two twins in one room? Bunk beds? These factors can help your guests determine if your property is best for them.

Reviews From Previous Guests

Social proof can go a long way toward encouraging vacation rental guests to trust your property. Include links to previous guest reviews in your vacation rental description, so they are easily accessible.

Your Kitchen Amenities

For some guests, the kitchen is one of the essential parts of the rental. They need to know that they can cook in it and that the tools they need are on hand. Consider offering information like whether you have kid-friendly tableware and what appliances are included.

The Distance to Local Attractions

Break down the location of any major tourist destinations near you so that guests can determine how close you are to their favorite attractions.

Crafting a vacation rental description can be difficult, but it’s also a critical part of bringing in potential renters. Try these strategies to craft a winning rental description that will help draw visitors to your property.
